Regarding the topic of miracles, if one acknowledges even the possibility of miracles, one might think they only happen to other people. In fact, miracles are real, but they are often the product of unseen buckets of sweats, pain and suffering, and a good dose of humility. Instead of magic words and the wave of a wand, a miracle is something that is made possible when a person maintains steadfast willpower in the face of seeming impossibilities. In this way, man makes himself available to receive God’s reward. A miracle is a combination of both God’s blessing and a person’s own efforts. For example, if a person becomes sick with a life-threatening illness and cannot find the willpower to be resolute and seek help, but instead chooses to wait and see “what happens,” this person is unlikely to experience a miracle.
